Through Garry Pepper and Margaret Zhang‘s enviable instagram accounts, I recently discovered fashion legend Carla Zampatti who, with her very first collection launched in 1965, is celebrating 49 years as a designer. This iconic lady has been awarded the most prestigious fashion related award there is for the Aussies in 2008 called Australian Fashion Laureate which, recognizes her rigorous work and impressive achievement throughout the years. Italian born Zampatti holds today, an exalted place in the industry with a powerful fashion house to go with it. The opening act of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Sydney first knocked my socks off with its minimal range of colors consisting of black, white and a few bold hues which immediatly, caught my eyes. From deep v décolletés to unconventional cutouts to etheral floral appliqués, it was then the little features that made this Spring Summer collection an absolute joy to watch. There doesn’t seem to be a recurring theme, but each gown and ensemble empowers women in in the most flattering way possible; Carla clearly understands how to dress a woman, so she’s the center of attention, wherever she is.
Carla Zampatti […] joins a prestigious list of “Mercedes-Benz Presents” designers including Australia’s Easton Pearson and Johanna Johnson. Globally, Carla Zampatti joins ranks with designers including Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Hervé Léger by Max Azria, Narciso Rodriguez, Schumacher, Mattijs Van Bergen and Alena Akhmadullina.
“Luxury craftsmanship and classic lines are considered from every angle in a Carla Zampatti garment, as it is in the creation of a Mercedes-Benz car which is a creative synergy we are celebrating through the ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ show,” said Horst von Sanden, CEO, Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific.
