Hi everyone! Today, I’m going to talk about the ultimate classic piece of clothing…the tweed jacket! After so many years, Coco Chanel’s well known creation remains a timeless must-have in any fashionista’s closet – its effortless polished vibe is a chic alternative to your denim or leather jacket. The trick not to look too old and mature is to look for modern details whether it’s in the color or the fit of the jacket. Here are some tips and ideas!
Color and cut Remember to look for youthful colors and cut (CC). If the CC is not modern enough, not only does it make you look dated but it’s harder to include it with the rest of your clothing. There is no perfect color because it depends on the rest of the details. Plus, the options are endless ranging from fiery red to teal and blues to white.
-> Classic: Choose a boxier, cropped version with shorter sleeves.
-> Modern: Choose something slightly longer than the usual cropped lenght and look for interesting details like a cool zipper, a sleek trim or even an asymmetrical closure.
*During summer, you might want to look for lighter fabrics or wait for cooler days to wear the jacket so you don’t sweat like crazy (yuck!). This is why it’s the perfect layering piece for you working ladies who freeze to death when the AC is on!
n.b. A classic jacket doesn’t necessarily mean your whole look has to be old fashioned!

As you can see, tweed looks fantastic with any basic pieces, especially denim! Its versatility allows you to wear it on many occasions whether it’s for brunch, errands or casual friday at the office. Shopping Tweed jackets are not the most common items you find these days so if you want to look into a designer option, I would recommend keeping an eye on any sales that go on online websites or stores like shopbop, net-a-porter, my-wardrobe, Bloomingdales, Jcrew, etc. Just make sure to drop by stores like Zara before to check out more affordable choices ! Here are some cool options: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
Although this year-round staple isn’t something I see myself purchasing right now due to my young age and the lack of opportunities to wear it, it’s definitely a piece I hope to own one day. Have fun giving your wardrobe a chic tweak with tweed ; ) xx
