Spring Summer Series :: Pastels and Neons – Part 1

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is having a great week : )

This post won’t be about the colors you find in your basic crayola box but actually about baby light colors and highlighter tones. Yes, you’ve seen it everywhere from Teen Vogue to JCrew. Yes, you might be sick of looking at those seemingly unwearable trends. No, I probably don’t have anything incredebly unique to add to all your knowledge. Still, I thought I would share a few tips and ideas that even the all-black-from-head-to-toe-gal could use ^^

Pastels and Neons are complete opposites but they have similar guidelines when it comes to styling them : )

Scared? Don’t panic. You won’t die. The key here is to start small with one single accent. Accessories is the easiest way to go so start with a skinny belt, a scarf or jewelry.  A nice mint scarf or a statement neon green necklace can really add the perfect pop of color you need in your outfit. Then, if you feel at ease, try a handbag or a pair of shoes!

Styling tip: If you are still hesitant, settle for a nice arm party : ) Friendship bracelets can make a fun DIY project and small bangles can be found at stores like F21 or H&M. Also, nail polish is an amazing but not overwhelming way to add color to your wardrobe! Great options here, here and here

You love it but you don’t know how to wear it. If you are confortable with small accessories, maybe it’s time to include bigger pieces in your wardrobe! Say hello to all kinds of bright bottoms, shirts, blazers, etc. You will make an awesome statement while staying away from the head-to-toe bright look.

Bright or light bottoms are probably one of the hottest trends right now! Asos.com has a great selection and so does Zara, Urban Outfitters, JCrew, Free People and Madewell. Don’t forget to check out stores like Joe Fresh, H&M and Gap. Ready to splurge? All kinds of online and in store boutiques sell higher end items from brands like JBrand, Paige Denim, Citizens of Humanity and many others. Net-a-porter, revolveclothing.com, you name it and they probably sell colored bottoms.

Daring? Then these are probably one of the most exciting trends for you!

1. If you want your main piece of clothing to be bright, I recommend a dress or a romper with a nice clean shape to not be too eccentric.

2. Want your whole look to be bright? Again, try classic pieces and timeless shapes and mix up your colored shirts and bottoms : )
